Brisbane Drupal Meetup - Oct 08
We arrived at the 3 monkeys -- slightly late due to traffic conditions on the way in but fortunately we were the first to arrive! :)
After wandering through the cafe, we saw entering a friendly face! Tony, who we met at Drupal Camp Australia strolled on in. Nick was at the counter ordering coffee so we were now four!
The numbers seemed to grow rather rapidly and soon there were 30, ahem, 9 of us grouped around a table chatting merrily away. :)
Tonight was fairly informal — a get to know you evening — where we went around the table and introduced ourselves and spoke briefly on our backgrounds and our passions. A number of spontaneous discussions broke out about various Drupal elements as well as business related issues and aspects. This lead into a brief presentation by Tim about his particular business model and it's benefits. It was very interesting to hear and see how other people are shaping up their business and the software they are using to make it all a reality. We hope to discuss this more in the future as there seems to be quite a few business owners in the group and it is always interesting to see how others run their business.
From here, we hope to host another meetup in a month, perhaps to talk something Drupal. :) Maybe we could have a Drupal specific topic one month and then following month have either business models, or q&a's etc? It would be good to be able to delve deep into Drupal and pool some of the knowledge we have as well as being able to discuss the various aspects or businesses or sites or a help out session, etc all the rest of the stuff that happens to make Drupal a reality in our lives.
It was fantastic to finally meet some of the Drupal community in Brisbane and we aim to grow and hit that 30 mark. :)
Looking forward to seeing you all again next month!

Did booting Windows XP the way you described indeed work? Kind of unbelievable, especially since noone has succeeded in booting anything other than Mac OS..

Sounds like it was a successful meetup. Hopefully we can really make Australia a Drupal powerhouse =)
